Sooji Halwa

Sooji Halwa is a semolina based Indian sweet often offered to Gods during Indian festivals.  Sooji halwa when paired with Kale chane and puri makes the traditional Ashtami prasad.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Sooji (Semolina)

1/3 cup Ghee

1 Cup Water

1/3 Cup Sugar

1-2 Cardamon

5-6 Almonds, Raisins and Cashews (as per taste)

 

 

Recipe:

1.Heat the pan on a low flame and add semolina and ghee.

 

2. Mix it well and roast the mixture on low flame till it turned golden brown. Keep it stirring so that its evenly roasted.

 

3. Meanwhile you are roasting sooji , add sugar and cardamom to the water and bring it to boil.

 

4. Add boiling sugar solution to roasted sooji and turn the flame to high. Stir the mixture till it started to thicken.

 

5. Garnish with almonds and raisins. Serve it hot !
