Caramelised Shahi Tukra


Try out this delicious dessert recipe thanks to Aditi.


  • 6 pieces of bread slices
  • Ghee
  • 1 Liter Milk
  • Saffron
  • Sugar to Taste
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Cashew nuts


  1. In a pan add ghee warm it, when hot fry the sliced breads until brown. Strain the fried breads and keep them aside.
  2. Add 1 l milk and boil till the milk reduces to half the original Add sugar (according to your taste) and saffron strings for color and flavor. As the aroma starts linger put out the flame and keep the milk aside.
  3. In another pan add one cup of water and two cups of sugar heat until the color changes and it becomes sticky. Add cashew to the caramelized syrup.
  4. Add the bread in the sweetened milk and mix well. Lay them out in a serving dish and pour over the caramelized syrup on milk soaked fried bread.
