Sabudana (Sago Seeds) Khichdi

Sabudana khichadi is an Indian dish made from soaked Sabudana (Sago Seeds). It is typically prepared in parts of Western India. Special thanks to Minakshi for sharing this recipe with us !

Ingredients:

1 cup Sabudana (Sago Seeds)

1 medium sized potato

1-2 green chillies

1 tsp red chilli powder (optional)

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp cumin powder

3-4 Coriander leaves

1/4 cup peanuts

1/2 tsp Mustard and Cumin seed

1 tablespoon Oil/Ghee

1 tsp lime juice

Rock salt to taste

Recipe:

1. Soak sabudana seeds overnight in 1 cup water. Grind peanut coarsely and saute in 1 tablespoon oil/ghee.

 

 

2. Heat oil/ ghee in the pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Add finely chopped potatoes, green chillies, turmeric powder, cumin powder and peanuts once cumin and mustard seeds crackle. Add small amount of salt at this step. Cook till potatoes are done.

 

3. Add soaked sabudana and salt (as per taste) to the mixture and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot !
